Delete Account & Data

You have the right to delete your BudgetLens account and all associated personal data at any time.

Option 1 — Delete directly in the app

The fastest way. Your account and data are deleted immediately.

  1. Open BudgetLens and sign in
  2. Go to Settings (bottom tab or sidebar)
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete Account"
  4. Confirm the deletion — this action is permanent and cannot be undone

Option 2 — Submit a request by email

If you cannot access the app, email us and we will process your request within 30 days.

Send to: privacy@budgetlens.app with subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include the email address on your account.

What gets deleted

  • Your account profile (name, email, password)
  • All transactions, budgets, goals, and categories
  • Bank account connections (Plaid access tokens are revoked)
  • Merchant directory and subscription list
  • Mileage trips and GPS data
  • AI conversation history
  • Receipt scan history
  • Subscription / billing records (Stripe customer ID is deleted)

What may be retained

  • Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (no personal identifiers)
  • Transaction records required by law for fraud prevention (max 90 days, then purged)

Deletion timeline

  • 🟢 In-app deletion: Immediate — data deleted within minutes
  • 🟡 Email request: Processed within 30 days of receiving your request
  • 🔵 Backup purge: Encrypted backups purged within 90 days
