Delete Account & Data
You have the right to delete your BudgetLens account and all associated personal data at any time.
Option 1 — Delete directly in the app
The fastest way. Your account and data are deleted immediately.
- Open BudgetLens and sign in
- Go to Settings (bottom tab or sidebar)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete Account"
- Confirm the deletion — this action is permanent and cannot be undone
Option 2 — Submit a request by email
If you cannot access the app, email us and we will process your request within 30 days.

What gets deleted
- ✕Your account profile (name, email, password)
- ✕All transactions, budgets, goals, and categories
- ✕Bank account connections (Plaid access tokens are revoked)
- ✕Merchant directory and subscription list
- ✕Mileage trips and GPS data
- ✕AI conversation history
- ✕Receipt scan history
- ✕Subscription / billing records (Stripe customer ID is deleted)
What may be retained
- ⚠Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (no personal identifiers)
- ⚠Transaction records required by law for fraud prevention (max 90 days, then purged)
Deletion timeline
- 🟢 In-app deletion: Immediate — data deleted within minutes
- 🟡 Email request: Processed within 30 days of receiving your request
- 🔵 Backup purge: Encrypted backups purged within 90 days
